Heather Ramsay(reporter) is an award-winning community reporter, photographer and creative writer who lives in Queen Charlotte City. She is deeply intrigued by lives and landscapes—past, present and future—swirling around British Columbia’s Northwest.
Sarah Artis is a photographer and reporter at the Terrace Standard who loves to ask “why?” She moved north to escape city chaos, and to run and ride free in the great outdoors. Her biggest loves are fresh air, good people, food, travel and adventure.
Amy Copland decided ten years ago that it just didn’t get any better than northern BC. She and her huband run Raven Rescue, coordinating technical rescue training throughout Western Canada. In her spare time, Amy can be found rowing an 18’ cataraft on local rivers, with her two sons and a Jack Russell terrier aboard.
Betsy Trumpener is a radio reporter and short story writer. She lives with her family outside Prince George.
Larissa Ardis (reporter) is a freelance writer and communications consultant. When not slinging words, images and sound, she’s often found chasing inspiration on mountain trails or trying to restore the accordion’s image as a cool instrument to play.
Tracy Morton is a family physician on Haida Gwaii. His philosophy of care is to equip people with the best available information to make health decisions that are right for them. Besides medicine, his interests include kayaking, climbing, cooking, travel, yoga and hanging out with his family.
Paul Glover came to the Bulkley Valley to visit friends in 1975, and never left. His experiences while homesteading for 20 years, and solo treks through the Northwest’s mountains, have honed his keen interest in the natural world. He currently lives outside Smithers.
Taylor Bachrach is a communications generalist, graphic designer and diapaer changer whose idea of a good day involves fresh snow and Italian coffee. Born and raised in Dunster, B.C., he now lives and works in Smithers.
Hans Saefkow is an award-winning editorial cartoonist, Illustrator and set designer. If you see this man, do not approach him, feed him, or listen to his idle chatter. It is simply best not to encourage him.
Julie Chaplin is a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner. Born and raised in Ontario, she now resides in Northern BC with her new family. With her pure love for life, you can find Julie painting, drawing, meditating and enjoying the great outdoors.
Facundo Gastiazoro is a freelance designer who focuses on logos, posters, layout and illustrations. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Facundo is currently living in Smithers. His illustrations appear in every issue of Northword Magazine.
Charlynn Toews has been in printing and publishing since 1985, and is currently selling fancy printers, copiers and scanners across northwest BC. She has published in daily and weekly newspapers, national magazines, and loves a good regional. She writes a regular column for Northword from her home in Terrace.
